I jumped off a cliff…not really, but feels about as scary. Bob and I bought the ugliest building in North Park, 3809 32nd St, determined to make it the ‘future home of awesome’. The money is flowing out fast and furious and we haven’t even started the major demo or construction.
I drove by today, I can see all the hideous drywall is gone, the insulation ripped out, awful fluorescent lighting removed. The dumpster in back is full. We are still waiting for the building permit, I am in the dark as to when it will be issued, but once it is the big demo can start. Roof comes off, floor comes out, walls stay or go, I don’t even know. All I know is there is a lot that needs to go into that dumpster before we can get going on the awesome part.
While I love to go off in la-la land about furniture and tile colors, I am so grateful to my husband, Bob Dameron, for keeping me focused and believing in me and Dwell Well Realty. He manages the design, construction, financing of the whole project. It would not be happening without his expertise and insight. Another cool thing, we have Bob’s brother’s architecture firm on board, how great is that?
My vision is clear, the new Dwell Well Realty office will be light, bright and cool. It will be about 2000 square feet with super high ceilings, concrete floors, some shipping container details, private offices, with a coffee bar, craft brew on tap, open and playful. It will be a magnet for great agents and clients. After 12+ years in our tiny Little Italy office, we are moving, expanding and taking a leap of faith off a cliff. If you build it, they will come…..at least that’s the plan….
