El Cortez was built in 1927 and is downtown San Diego’s oldest building and has preserved the beauty of its Spanish Renaissance architecture. The building transitioned into a condos complex in 2004. It is located in the center of the Cortez Hill neighborhood and it is within walking distance of the Gaslamp District.
